When you need to leave and get settled

Documents, lawful stay, housing and work are different parts of the plan. This initial verified selection applies only to Russian citizens.

Travelling with children: a 2026 change

From 20 January 2026, children under 14 need an international passport for a new departure from Russia to Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan; a birth certificate alone is insufficient. Keep it as proof of relationship. Do not assume the whole family can leave using domestic documents only.

Russian citizens can use a domestic or international passport without a visa or migration card.

Permitted stay

Registration exemption: 90 days from arrival.

Work and longer stay

EAEU rules apply. Russian citizenship provides a residence-application basis, but residence is not granted automatically.

🇨🇳

China

Entry document

A Russian ordinary international passport valid for the stay is required. The visa waiver runs until 31 December 2027.

Permitted stay

Up to 30 days for tourism, business visits, family/friends, exchanges and transit, counted from the day after entry.

Arrival formalities

Prepare the accommodation address and purpose evidence: tickets, booking or invitation. Confirm local accommodation registration with the hotel or host.

Work and longer stay

This visa waiver does not cover employment, ordinary study or journalism. Arrange the appropriate visa beforehand for another purpose or a stay over 30 days.

First days: a minimum practical plan

  1. Keep documents, tickets and entry date; check notification or registration deadlines.
  2. Find temporary housing, check ownership and contract; do not hand your entire reserve to an unknown intermediary.
  3. Arrange connectivity, access to your money and healthcare.
  4. Before the permitted stay ends, establish a lawful longer-stay basis or arrange departure.
