Thailand visas for German citizens: entry & long stays

German passport guide to Thailand: the dated visa-free entry change, O-X nationality eligibility and where to apply. Official sources and recorded checks.

Do German passport holders need a tourist visa?

For arrivals from 15 September 2026, the revised scheme lists this nationality for up to 30 days without a visa, for tourism only. One extension of up to 30 days may be requested; approval is not automatic. The two-entry annual limit concerns land entry, not all arrivals.

What if I arrive before 15 September 2026?

The MFA says visitors admitted under the earlier exemption keep the permitted stay shown in their passport entry stamp. Do not replace that date with the new 30-day allowance. For a different purpose, check the relevant visa category rather than treating tourist entry as residence or employment permission.

Can German citizens use the O-X long-stay route?

Germany is on the O-X nationality list. Applicants must be at least 50 and meet the financial, insurance, health and other requirements; nationality alone does not qualify them. Employment is prohibited. This is a limited eligibility summary, not confirmation that a particular application will be approved.

Must every German citizen apply in Berlin?

No. Citizenship and application location are different. Berlin requires applicants to be in Germany when applying and paying, with evidence of lawful residence and the correct consular jurisdiction. A German citizen living elsewhere must check the Thai mission responsible for their actual location.

Thailand visas for Indian citizens: entry, DTV & applications

Indian passport guide to Thailand: September entry changes, the New Delhi DTV fee, application location and the O-X nationality limit, with dated official evidence.

Do Indian passport holders need a tourist visa?

For arrivals from 15 September 2026, the revised scheme lists this nationality for up to 30 days without a visa, for tourism only. One extension of up to 30 days may be requested; approval is not automatic. The two-entry annual limit concerns land entry, not all arrivals.

What DTV fee and stay does New Delhi publish?

New Delhi lists DTV at INR 30,000, with five-year visa validity and 180 days per entry. Five years is not permission for one continuous stay. The fee is local to that application location, not a worldwide fee for Indian citizens. Eligible purposes and documents must match the application.

How do I apply from India, and what if I live elsewhere?

Thailand introduced e-Visa applications in India on 1 January 2025. Use the official Thai e-Visa portal and the responsible mission’s instructions. Your passport nationality does not establish your application location: if you live elsewhere, check the mission responsible for where you are applying.

Is an Indian passport eligible for O-X?

India is not on the published O-X nationality list, so an Indian passport alone does not meet that route’s nationality condition. This does not mean Indian citizens cannot retire or live in Thailand: other visa categories have separate requirements and must be checked individually.

Why do some official pages still mention 60 visa-free days?

New Delhi’s page, updated 21 May 2026, still describes the earlier 60-day scheme. The newer September announcement explicitly applies from 15 September 2026. We keep these dates separate: the older text is not evidence of a 60-day allowance for arrivals under the new scheme.
