A consistent data structure, official sources and a clear last-reviewed date.
Primary sources, then local notes
Claims are grounded in official or regulator pages listed in source records. Country and city statements still show separate dates for legal changes vs data points, and dates come from editorial review records, not from page build time.
Review cadence and staleness handling
Checks are manual: there is no automated watcher yet. Homicide data is from World Bank/UNODC records with explicit year tags; we treat records older than five years as historical and do not rank them as current for comparisons.
Monthly costs and setup costs
Cost comparisons are scenario budgets in USD, not verified market prices. Base allowances are scaled by adults, children, rooms, school, transport and lifestyle. There is no PPP or live exchange-rate adjustment. Taxes, deposits and one-off setup costs are excluded from monthly comparisons. Vehicle purchases, flights and relocation costs use separate setup-cost fields when present.
Budget scores are relative
For at least two valid, different monthly scenarios: score = round(10 × (max - current)/(max - min)). The lowest receives 10 and the highest 0; equal budgets receive 5. This compares selected scenarios, not country wealth or market prices. Changing the selection can change the score without changing the amount.
Heat is not the whole climate
Heat uses the warmest of 12 city monthly means: ≤25°C =10, ≤28°C =7, ≤31°C =4, >31°C =1. These are editorial bands, not official risk classes. The comparison conclusion requires the same reference period. Daily extremes, humidity, winter and air quality are not included. The source and reference period remain visible.
Recommendation scope and limits
A lower modeled budget is only a scenario gap at the same selected assumptions. It does not imply easier legal route, safer conditions, or tax outcome. Where available, country and route pages add practical caveats around documents, taxes, residency and local checks, and those may vary by route and policy period.
